The conscious mind is the part of our mental programming that we can understand fully. It incorporates such things as the sensations, observations, recollections, feeling and dreams within our present mindfulness. The things that the conscious mind needs to mask are stifled and go into the subconscious mind. Research shows that human behavior and emotions comprise about 95% of your brain activity and far beyond the conscious mind, and as such emanate the subconscious mind programming.

Subliminal messages are intended to focus on your thoughts, particularly the intuitive area, on the grounds that your brain controls your activities. When society utilizes subliminal messages to impact your brain to a specific point, it can control your thoughts to a specific degree without your knowledge.

The following are the secrets of the subconscious mind that you need to be aware of.

It controls your behavior

Stop and take a look at your day-to-day life. You will notice that things that you have never at any point given a thought to are really choices being made by your subconscious mind. Things like washing your hands before and after meals are ideal examples. If you get into the habit of washing your hands every time you sit for a meal and after, it gradually becomes a subconscious activity. As a matter of fact, your subconscious personality aids you in getting your hands cleaned even as your conscious mind is elsewhere involved in different activities.

It help you believe

Frequently when confronted with a tough situation, it is your subconscious personality that comes to your aid and comforts you that you can overcome the situation. As you experience life, your subconscious mind records and stores events where you had succeeded. Regardless of the fact that you are confronted with a circumstance that you have never experienced, your subliminal can push you on; in light of the fact that it recollects times when you had vanquished another impediment.

It is accessible through meditation

You can always get closer to your subconscious mind through meditation. When you meditate, your mind can slice through the majority of the “clamor” of day-by-day life and discover peace inside. In those quiet minutes is the point at which you will have the capacity to unequivocally feel what your subconscious mind is letting you know. This should always be your comfort zone; away from all the external noise and confusion that come with the conscious mind.

The popular saying goes, “A boss says go, and a leader says let’s go.” The motivation mantra to happiness in the workplace is not much different. This quote suggests a sense of togetherness and a hint of being co-dependent on one another. It says “I can’t do this without you, and you can’t do this without me, so let’s do this together. If you know how to motivate you will understand that this feeling of being needed is one that provides a lot for both employers and employees. Not only does it provide a sense of security, but there’s also a large amount of gratitude that comes with being needed. And that word, ‘gratitude’ is the number one feeling that will keep people in the workplace motivated.

Appreciation for others

Who doesn’t like being appreciated or receive positive feedback? But appreciation isn’t only about flattery or motivation of employees. It is also about increasing self-esteem, because when a person is appreciated they like themselves better. As a result they hold a higher image of themselves. What’s more is that it is encouraging, being appreciated makes a person feel more important, gives them job satisfaction and validates what they did was valuable and worthwhile. Appreciation is the best employee incentive as empowers people and makes them eager to help people around them.

What appreciation does for one’s self

It’s like giving a gift, being the reason for someone’s happiness makes one like themselves better. Similarly, when we say ‘thank you,’ the smile we put on someone else’s face is a humbling experience. Words of encouragement and appreciation give a person that feeling of contentment with themselves and their life. Saying ‘thank you,’ ‘good job,’ or ‘I couldn’t have done this without you’ validates our career choice and makes us feel good about what we do.

More than just thank you

While ‘thank you’ does a long way, a good way to ensure employee satisfaction is to raise their self-esteem with praise and approval. Research shows that when kids are praised by the people that they look up to, their energy levels rise and they feel happier about themselves. Adults subconsciously also follow this pattern.

Appreciation is contagious

Moreover, appreciation is contagious. When someone compliments us, we often respond with a complement for them. It is human nature to look for a way to reciprocate a person’s kindnesses toward them. When people look for every opportunity to do and say things that make others feel good about themselves, it is astonishing at how rewarding it feels.

Pay attention

Another great way to make a person feel important is to show them you care by listening to them patiently. People these days are trying so hard to be heard, they become impatient when others are talking. Paying attention when other people talk and maybe even mentioning something from it in a later conversation, truly makes a person feel like what they have to say, matters to you.

The three keys in the motivation mantra are appreciation, approval, and attention. Saying thank you and voicing gratitude to others on every occasion goes a long way. These three tips are extremely effective in mastering human interaction and empowering the people around us.

Team players enhance the value of their entire company or organization. They do this by empowering other teammates, which increases overall productivity and promotes good feelings. These are priceless benefits even though they obviously translate into more dollars and cents, as well as bigger and better promotions.

The fruits of spreading helpfulness and harmony

Being a supportive member of any organization or company has far reaching effects. An atmosphere of harmony and compassion makes everyone feel more relaxed and creates an environment where people feel more compelled to focus and put their best foot forward.

Increased collaboration

Joint efforts are conducive to creating an atmosphere where people are not afraid to ask for help, if and when they need it. This, in turn, creates more collaboration and overall growth. All these benefits add substantially to a company or group’s overall productivity and profit, if applicable.

Peace and harmony

A stress-free and relaxed environment clears away a lot of unnecessary distractions. All of a sudden people find it easier to get things done because there are fewer unrelated negative things or situations blocking both productivity and creativity.

Overcoming Fear

There can’t be two opinions that all of us experience fear before doing anything new like public speaking or starting a new venture. Most of the time, the fear is based on false assumptions and it stops us from reaching personal goals. So here are some effective techniques for overcoming fear.

Change your perspective

One of the most common causes behind fear is having a negative mindset or approach to life. We start thinking about negative outcomes of the work ahead of us and thus fail to gather the courage required to begin. You should focus on the positive results and think about the rewards associated with completing the work.

In case, if you have doubts regarding the work, ask your friends for an opinion. This will help you develop a well-rounded perspective towards the situation. You can then stop worrying about unnecessary things and concentrate on the necessary preparation for the work.

Take small steps

Sometimes, it might not be possible to execute the work completely in one go. For instance, if you have never gone out on a date, you might not be comfortable asking someone out. The solution to this problem is taking small steps at beginning. You can simply start with “Hi” or “Hello” and make small talk to develop a conversation. Alternatively, you can start talking online via instant messaging. This will help you develop some confidence before you meet in person.

This technique applies to all other situations where fear is common. For example, most of the people shiver at the idea of public speaking. Always remember that even the most successful speakers had to fight against fear when they first started. Start with a small audience first to build confidence and learn the basics gradually.

Meditation techniques

Another effective technique for overcoming fear is meditation. Meditation can help you realize your true potential. It helps to fight against anxiety by relaxing your mind.

Meditation helps you focus on the present instead of the future. This eliminates all doubts in your mind automatically. Meditation also increases prana (life force energy) thus relieving your stress and making you more confident.

dream big

Everyone loves to succeed, however not many people ever get to live their dreams. So, why do so few people succeed while so many live in mediocrity? The simple answer is that they ignore the first rule of success: dreaming big and working hard to attain those dreams.

Begin by dreaming big

According to John A. Appleman, the first ingredient of success is to dream big. This means that unless you aspire or dream big, you can never accomplish anything. And the good news is that there are no limits to your aspirations and to have a small dream is as bad as committing a heinous crime.

No one ever dreams of failure or aspires to be unsuccessful. Failure does not play any role in dreaming. Even when people fail, it is the dreamer that instills failure, not the dream. Dreaming does not mean that the person harboring the dream will not fail. Actually, many successful people have failed countless times before they experienced success. The only difference between is that such people did not allow failure to determine who they were. Instead, failure motivated them to dream bigger and find another way to achieve their dreams.

Manage failures

While addressing a gathering of young people in Dhaka, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, former President of India said “There will always be problems in life. Problems should never be your driver; instead you should be the driver of your problems. To succeed, you need to defeat problems.”

According to Dr. Kalam, managing success is easy for everyone; however managing failure is what most people never learn. Managing failure is a big issue; it is what makes leaders big. Great leaders know how to handle failure and success effectively.

The power of positive thinking

Great leaders engage the principles of positive thinking when failure threatens to pull them down. Such people understand that there are no shortcuts to making their lives better except by first getting better themselves. To put it simply, if you intend to change your life positively, you must begin by getting better − from the inside out.

Work hard

Dreaming is the easy part of success; acting on the dream is the hard part. To transform your dreams into reality, you have to work hard.

Any successful person will tell you that getting to the top does not come easy. Someone has to put in the hard work in the trenches of life before they can wear the victor’s crown. Unlike what most people think, successful people do not stumble upon success. Instead, they work hard day in day out until they attain their dreams. In the words of Henry Ford, the harder you work, the luckier you get.

personal leadership

Personal leadership is a journey, not a destination. This means that every person, regardless of his or her successes or position, needs to continually work on their ambitions, aspirations and skills. So, what elements are required to attain personal leadership?

Free yourself from any limitations

To achieve all what you can be, you need to begin by setting yourself free from any self-limitations. Any person who has self-limiting beliefs can never rise above those hindrances. If you intend to be an effective leader, you must begin by letting your imagination fly free. Rather than worry about whether you have enough finances, opportunity, intelligence or talent, let your imagination soar to the highest heights of possibilities.

Self-regulation

Self-regulation is the ability to control impulses and learn how to analyze situations to enable you to comprehend the big picture. This allows you to initiate the right actions at the right time. Self-regulation elevates your personal power and puts you in charge. It enables you to make clear-headed decisions when everyone else around you is panicking.

Throughout history, they have many great people who got into trouble for responding to crisis with knee-jerk solutions rather than well-planned strategies. These people failed not because they could not be great but because they were unable to deal with problems logically. They had poor self-control and could not manage their impulses. And that was their downfall.

Self identity

Self identity is the heart of the personal leadership journey. To be an effective leader, you must develop a leadership identity that you believe in and can be emulated by people who are around you. Self identity includes a set of principles and values that guide your behavior and actions. And just like leadership, the development of self-identity is a continuous process and not an inertial entity.

Execute

You have gone through all the right processes of freeing your imagination, developing self-control and self-identity. Now is the time to take the driver’s seat and get to your destination. Taking charge of your life may be tough but it is a critical phase of your personal leadership journey. Your personal blueprint is what you intend to achieve, steer out of your safe harbor to attain all you can. Destiny awaits you.

Sleep deprivation is becoming a major public health concern in many countries. Studies show that about 40 percent of Americans sleep less than 7 hours per night. The studies also indicate that more than 70 million Americans have sleeping disorders. While these statistics may not be new, they indicate worrying trends in modern times.

To keep up with daily demands of modern living, people normally go to sleep late and wake up early. As a result, they are sleep deprived. This makes them irritable and less focused, unproductive and less creative.

Why is sleep important?

Sleep helps the brain to remove toxic proteins from its neurons. These toxins are by-products of neural activity when you are awake. When you do not get enough sleep, the toxic proteins remain in your brain cells. They wreak havoc by impairing your ability to think, focus, concentrate, solve problems and kill your creativity.

If you intend to be happy and productive, you need to get enough sleep. Unknown to most people, the more you work late into the night and wake up early, the more your productivity decreases. If you keep on depriving your body of sleep, you will eventually hit a dead end just like when a battery runs out of power.

Keep a regular sleep schedule

Before technology and other modern demands interfered with how humans sleep, people would normally wake up with the sunrise and go to bed at sunset. Unfortunately, not many people can claim to have such a regular sleep schedule today. To maximize your personal potential, establish a regular sleep and wake up pattern.

Understand what works for your body

Different people feel more awake at different times of the day. Morning larks are bright-eyed in the morning and bushy tailed as the day progresses. On the other hand, night owls are more alert in the late afternoon and evening but less energetic in the morning hours.

When people do not understand what works for their bodies, they end up fatigued. Fatigue is a major reason for procrastination. To help you learn how to stop procrastinating, identify these times and make the most of them.

Learn how much sleep you really need

The amount of sleep you need in order to function optimally is something you have no control over. Scientists have discovered that genes dictate the amount of sleep you need to function effectively. This means that while one person may be good to go after clocking 7 hours of sleep time, another may need 9 hours to have a happy, productive life. Here, the problem is that most people sleep less than what they really need. Since they are sleep deprived, they are constantly tired which lead to less creativity and productivity.

Thinking Positive

Did you know that the main reason your life is in its current state is mainly because of your thoughts? Our experiences, past, present and future, are driven by what is constantly on our minds.

Scientific proof

According to science, thoughts emit frequencies that can be measured as energy. Quantum physics has a basic law that states that energy attracts like energy. This law is called the law of attraction. If our thoughts are energy, and it attracts like energy, then it means that we attract what we are always thinking about.

The power within lies in your thoughts

It is therefore crucial that people take control of their thoughts in order to attract positive outcomes in their lives. Most people make the mistake of concentrating on what they do not want instead of the opposite. The problem is that the mind does not choose good or bad; you will get whatever you are constantly thinking about.

This ideology becomes tricky because people do not know exactly how to stop worrying about their various day-to-day problems. Worrying and constantly thinking about problems will only generate more problems rather than solutions. Thoughts can be manipulated to bring one love, health and wealth.

Love yourself, and love will find you

Everyone wants to find true love and a lifelong partner. The power lies in your thoughts and it all begins by loving and appreciating yourself. If you love yourself, you emit a confidence that is not self-centered and egoistic, but warm and attractive. Once you love and appreciate who you are then you will know what kind of man or woman you would want by your side. Put the thoughts of your ideal partner out into the universe and the result will be finding your true love or even your true love finding you.

Take it a day at a time

It might be difficult and even exhausting to constantly monitor your thoughts but one only needs to take it one day at a time. Focus on what you want for instance, do not think about debts but rather think about receiving a check in the mail. Do not focus on your failed relationships but focus on a fresh start with a wonderful partner. Stop constantly thinking about your illness but focus on your body getting better and being healed.

Only this kind of controlled thinking can change you to a much better, healthier and happier person.

Communication

You will notice that the most successful people have the ability to communicate well to others. These people realize the importance of communicating effectively and have invested a lot of time and effort into honing their communication skills.

In modern society, the ability to interact well with others, also called social intelligence, is one of the most favored intelligences. In fact, business communication is a specialized skill that is highly rewarded.

Let us first understand communication routes and disturbances. Then, we will learn how you can communicate with clarity.

Process of communication

The most vital thing in order to communicate well is to be crystal clear in your own mind about what you wish to say. When you deliver the message, ensure that you say it slowly and with patience. Confirm that the other person has heard your complete message clearly and completely.

Drowning out noise

Noise tends to creep into our communications. This can be physical noise like traffic sounds, TV, people conversing, etc.

It can also be internal noise. A person could be unmindful or thirsty. Emotional noise occurs when a person is sad or agitated.

These different forms of noise affect the way your message is received and interpreted. Watch out for them and try to remove these distractions when communicating.

Communication dos and don’ts

  • Avoid conversation fillers: These are the fillers that dot your everyday speech. Look out for words like “umm”, “like” and so on. Cutting out the clutter can make you appear more confident and credible.
  • Not so small talk: Small talk is a well-practiced art form that very few people have been able to master. It’s great to have a plan as to some topics you can discuss. Use the FORD formula (family, occupation, recreation dreams) to make interesting small talk and establish common ground.
  • Listen, ask, repeat: If you are unclear about anything that was said to you, ask questions to make it clearer and easier for you to understand. Repeat the person’s last few words to show you were listening intently and to recap the conversation.
  • Bespoke communication: Always tailor your message to your audience. It is essential to keep the other person’s viewpoint in mind when trying to get your message across.
  • More than words: Much of our communication is actually non-verbal. Adopt a friendly posture like leaning your head towards the other person, keeping your arms uncrossed and maintaining eye contact. In this way, you can use your body for better communication even when you’re not saying a word.

Helpful, happy people get more bread

Being the person in the group that wants to be as helpful as possible and believes in the collective effort, generally, translates into bigger paychecks. Team players are often noticed for their ability to effect a qualitative change in an entire group and are seen as natural leaders. This usually means more leadership roles and more financial compensation.

The proof is in the pudding. Team players increase the overall well-being of a group or an organization, and often those far-reaching benefits result in financial gains for team players. Practicing an attitude of community care, collaboration, and productivity, help organizations and companies boost morale and satisfaction. This helps create more growth fiscally as well as in other obvious areas. Team players are the wind beneath the wings of any company or organization.

Breakdowns can be hard to accept. Whether they come in the professional, personal or spiritual domain, they can cause a crushing loss of morale. To a person, it seems like ample evidence that they are incapable of defying the fallacies of human nature. To them, it is evidence that they should stop trying.

But that’s where you must snap out of the self-imposed funk and put the defeat of your grand plans into perspective. Once you do, you realize that even out of the worst situations, something new and wonderful could arise. Here’s why:

Clean slates

As is human tendency, we tend to spend a lot of time treating fatally damaged relationships and situations. Of course, such efforts never bear fruit. Conversely, they have the potential to vitiate the end even more. Once the crumbling of the edifice happens, you’re left with an open panorama of possibilities. You have a chance to live again, without the baggage of your past undoing.

Change can be exhilarating

Clearing out the detritus of failures can reveal new prospects and possibilities. Like the dirt being wiped off the windscreen, you’re now treated to a completely different way of life. It could be a pleasant change from feeling completely lost and confused. Getting involved with new objectives and moving forward on new paths will also lessen the pains of previous mistakes.

Message in the universe

Everything happens for a reason, whether you call it karma or the butterfly effect. Even breakdowns are subtle messages from the cosmos, showing us the way forward. Instead of feeling like a victim, it is instead a second chance to find something better.

Lessons learnt

At the time of hurt, the underlying lesson might be harder to grasp. But we can’t underestimate it’s importance, since it is our only shot at evolving. Making peace with circumstances and trying again makes people stronger and better

Overcome problems

When times are hard and you face a constant barrage of complicate problems in life, it can be difficult to keep your cool. But it is essential to stay calm if you are looking for ways to overcome problems in life.

Here are some tips to stay positive and motivated when things aren’t going too well.

  1. Don’t push blame onto others

If you wish to explore how to overcome problems, become your own crisis specialist. Start by accepting responsibility for yourself and take charge of everything that occurs in your life.

Don’t blame others for anything. Anger and related negative emotions look to blame for their survival. The moment you stop blaming others for what has happened and take responsibility for the future, you cause a breakdown in the blame mechanism.

Your mind becomes calm and clear, and you are able to see things in perspective.

  1. Maintain calm when in hot water

The essence of staying calm is to act only after putting thought into it. Always pause to take a deep breath to center yourself before saying or doing anything.

Imagine that everyone is looking up to you to see how you will take on a situation. Decide that you will be an ideal role model and demonstrate how to solve problems in life with élan.

  1. Fast fact check

When something bad happens, it is instinctive to lash out at others. Instead of reacting rashly, keep yourself calm and collected. Ask questions to everyone involved as to pinpoint the root cause of the problem.

Listen with a patient ear to all the answers before you make a decision.

  1. Doing a diagnosis

The best way to find a solution is to ask key questions and carefully study the answers. Here are some questions you should ask in order to procure the right information:

  • How did this happen?
  • What is the current situation?
  • When and where did it take place?
  • How did we learn about this?
  • Who were involved directly and indirectly?

After you have gathered all the facts, keep cool while you piece together the puzzle.

Now channel all your energy into purposeful action that will bring about a solution. Don’t worry about the problem anymore; just follow the above steps to work towards your goal.

Finding balance

There are so many areas in life where we are overly invested, which rob us of our happiness and throw us off kilter. To be in balance in your life simply means that you have all the balls in the air and you are able to juggle them effortlessly.

What is life balance?

Life balance comes from not feeling as if you are being spread too thin. It also means that you are calm, centered and grounded at all times.

How do you strike a balance?

The various aspects of your life that will need balancing can be broadly classified as internal and external. More often than not, people feel out of sync because they focus on one more than the other.

For example, you may be extremely focused on external things like work, relationships and travelling, so you almost ignore what’s going on internally.

Yet others may have found a work-life balance but might want to continue to fine-tune the specifics. Here are some tips to help you locate that sweet spot where all is calm, all is good.

  1. Acknowledge

Take a step back and look at your life. Really look at it; your fears, your achievements and your feelings, all need to go under the scanner. Do this exercise with honesty and you will be able to see any red flags.

  1. Assess

Create a spreadsheet of your life with the external and internal categories. Fill in the various parts that fall under each category. Prioritize your list in the order of which areas are sending an SOS signal and which areas are healthy.

  1. Set goals

Based on your individual priorities, list the tasks that you will need to do to bring balance in your life.

  1. Prepare

Read yourself for the tasks you have set yourself. Identify any internal factors (fear, procrastination, negative thinking) that will keep you from carrying out your goals.

  1. Empower

Create a battle plan as to what you will do during those times. In what ways can you curb that self-sabotaging behavior?

Lastly, remember to be kind to yourself. True balance comes from within and you need to be happy with your choices if you wish to achieve it!
